While no two fence projects are the same, below you can find a high-level overview of our process so that you can learn more about what it looks like to work with Illinois Fence Company. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 708-856-8999, and someone from our team would be happy to assist you!

1. Getting Started

  • The very first step in the process is to sign and return a copy of the contract. You can scan and email it back to us, take a picture with your phone, fax it or send it in the mail.
  • The second step in the process is to provide us with the payment information you would like to use for the initial down payment. We require a 30% downpayment to schedule your fence installation. You can call our office, and we can process a credit card payment over the phone, or you can mail in a check to our office.

2. Obtain the Permit

  • Whether you are having a woodvinylaluminum, or chain link fence installed, you will need to bring a copy of your plat of survey, and your signed contract to your local village or city office. Once you provide them with the necessary documentation and filing fee, they will then grant you a permit allowing us to proceed with the fence installation.
  • Please Note: Illinois Fence Company can obtain the permit on your behalf, but there is a $100 fee (plus the cost of the village permit). If you want us to get it, you will need to provide us with a copy of your plat of survey at the time of purchase.

3. Prepare Your Yard

  • It is essential that you prepare the property line before our installers arrive on the day of the fence installation, which would include things like trimming away any bushes or trees that would be obstructing the path where the fence is getting installed.

4. Prepare for Fence Installation

  • It is imperative on the day of installation that electricity and water are available for our crews. Also, it's essential that you are home and that you have a copy of the plat of survey for our installers to review.

5. Dirt Haul Options

  • As we start digging holes for your new fence posts, we unearth quite a bit of dirt during the fence installation process. You have two options; you can either pick an area in your yard that you want us to move the dirt too and you can haul it away at a later time. Or for an additional fee, we can haul the dirt away for you. Most people choose the second option, as it requires less work on your part.

6. Mark Underground Sprinklers and Gas Grill Lines

  • Illinois Fence Company will contact JULIE for you, and they will come out to mark necessary cables such as Nicor, ComEd, Comcast, etc., so you do not need to worry about this step in the process.
  • But, if you have underground sprinkler systems, irrigation systems, or gas lines for a grill, you must make sure to mark those areas of the yard, so that our crew will be less likely to run into issues with those cables.
  • When the crew arrives, please make sure to show them all of these markings before they start digging any holes.

7. Pay the Final Balance

  • Upon successful completion of your fence installation, it is time for you to pay off the final balance (remaining 70% of the total project). You can provide the crew with cash, check, or credit card. You can also call into our office on the same day and provide your credit card details over the phone.
